Red Sky In The Morning

Red sky in the morning sailor take warnig, red sky at night sailors delight. I took this in the morning by the way and it  made me wonder about all the sailors that day and if they really had rough seas that day.

I have a monkey on my back and it is called Sudafed.

My name is Carla and I have been off Sudafed for 3 days and cannot breathe at all. It started last spring when the farmer next door planted his corn. I was so plugged up that I went to CVS and well really I sent Ed in. I may as well tell the truth here, to get me a box of Sudafed. Well since you can't have common allergy problems these days without the world thinking that you are concocting a batch of the recipe I did not want to go in and get my name on some watch list. (Ed doesn't care how man watch lists he is on since he so HATES the government and is innocent of any wrongdoing so bring on your lists idiots. So anyway Ed walks to the back of the store and says I'd like a box of Sudafed. The real stuff that you have to sign for. The pharmacy tech and everyone around stopped talking and stared. So finally a woman walks over and says you can only have so many grams of this a week. So Ed says well I have not ever bought any since this started so I'm good. Well someone must look like him that HAS been buying it because man she grabbed his license and started pecking away at her keyboard and after some considerable time she must have realized that he was telling the truth. So he finally got it. So anyway we had a dry summer and I was ok. Then this fall when the farmer started picking his corn I was back in the same stuffed up boat. So anyway Ed goes in to get me another box and they put him through the same shenanigans. Even though he had not bought any since last spring.  He finally got it and brought it out to the car and looks at me and says he is tired of being racially profiled. Poor white man with long hair and beard equals a maker of the recipe.

Captchas

I now what captchas are and what they are for but my question is who makes them up, what are the qualifications for the job, do you have any other duties besides making up captchas,  who knows the meanings of the captchas, & what is the pay? I have a few for you. Stmpgoo: noun, the residue left over when you remove your stamp from your envelope for your stamp collection. Goldrnpurty: adjective, something beautiful to an old timer. Slpsldr: verb, what you do when you fall on ice. Do I get the job???

The Bats of Austin and Round Rock, Texas

While in Texas we had the pleasure of seeing 1.5 million Mexican free tailed bats come out to feed on mosquitos and other insects.  People come from miles around and bring lawn chairs and beach blankets to sit out and watch as we do sunsets. Two great places to watch are at the Congressional Bridge in Austin and the I-35 underpass in Round Rock. Local business let you pull up a blanket or chair and watch at sunset. They do this from March to November before they migrate on. It is so cool I snapped a pic but it just doesn't do it justice.

Chance is alive.

Well I am finally up to the middle of September in watching the Y&R and to my wondering eyes what appeared? Chance is alive and in the witness protection program. I am so happy I have been waiting to see if he was alive forever. I am still waiting for Drucilla to reappear as she fell off a cliff into the lake and her body has never been found  for about 5 years now. I have visions of her living on an island eating coconuts and inventing neccessities from seashells, rocks, and the occassional box that floats up to the island. Dead never really means dead on the Y&R.

It's all in the eye of the beholder.

I was just remembering a funny story from back in the time when Ed & I were running an in home daycare business and thought I'd write it down. When we first opened the daycare, Ed was building a play area for the smaller children that had a fence around it and easy access to the bathroom and drinking fountain. One of the older boys came up and said  and I quote, "I just don't think it is right how some people can build cages to keep other people's kids in" So while we were just trying to make a safe play area he felt we were caging them in. We have had many laughs with this story and think of Dylan often and wonder if he ever got over his fear of being caged in.

Christmas cards

Well after careful consideration we have decided that we are going to continue sending Christmas cards at least another year. With all the things we have cut out of the Christmas season it just seemed like cards mean so much to me. I love sending and receiving them. So off to Walmart and the post office we went yesterday for a box of cards and some Christmas stamps. We are really trying to ignore all the commercialism and enjoy the season for the season. I know we are not the only ones that won't have a big pile of presents under the tree but that doesn't matter as much this year. I have been taking stock and I have so much to be grateful for. So what if I don't get that perfect pancake maker or chia pet. I have a wonderful family, great dogs, and the best friends in the world. So we are going to put up a small tree, do some decorating, listen to some Christmas music, watch some Christmas movies, go see some Christmas lights and bake some goodies. That surely will give us plenty of Christmas overload along with our annual Christmas Eve bash at Sonnet's and Christmas Day at Mom & Dad's. Tis the season to show some love on a limited budget.

I guess I will have to follow myself

Hmmm. I got up, flew to my computer to see if I had anyone read my blog and zip, zero, nada. I guess I will have to follow myself. That is kind of a bummer because I am not quite forgetful enough for my blog to be "new and exciting" to me.

diagramming sentences

Well, I'm afraid I'm going to "date" myself here but...here goes. Does anyone remember diagramming sentences? I can remember taking up pages of notebook paper diagramming sentences. I think teaching this in school has gone the way of long division. Remember how much paper that took up? It is just amazing to me when I look at my grandaughter's homework and think man our homework was nothing compared to what they learn today. The work she is doing in 8th grade was what we learned as juniors. I guess that is how we have gotten such grand inventions as computers, cell phones, ipods, and wii's. Each generation just gets smarter and smarter. Well just my thought for the day.
